"A House to Let" by Dickens, Collins, Gaskell, and Procter is a collaborative novella published in 1858 in the Christmas edition of Household Words magazine. An elderly woman named Sophonisba becomes intrigued by mysterious signs of life in a supposedly empty, dilapidated house across from her own. She enlists her admirer Jabez Jarber and her servant Trottle to investigate what secrets lie within. Each author contributed different chapters to unravel the enigma of the abandoned dwelling.
