Chapter IX: Autumn

Text size

Spirit, whose silent breath
Teaches the withering leaves
To rejoice at the coming of Death,
Though man at his menace grieves,
Would that mine ear might know
The message thou bearest of good,
That makes them to flush and glow
More than the summer could.
