Aladdin or The Wonderful Lamp

"Aladdin or The Wonderful Lamp" by Anonymous is a Middle-Eastern folk tale added to One Thousand and One Nights by French translator Antoine Galland in 1710. An impoverished young man in China encounters a sorcerer who tricks him into retrieving a magical lamp from an enchanted cave. Trapped inside, Aladdin accidentally discovers the lamp's power—a genie capable of granting extraordinary wishes. With this newfound magic, he transforms his fortunes, wins a princess's hand, and builds a magnificent palace. But the vengeful sorcerer returns, determined to reclaim the lamp and destroy everything Aladdin has gained.
