The lists of individuals at the end of the text are grouped by initial letter of the person's last name. However, they are not necessarily arranged in alphabetical order. This is preserved as printed.

Minor punctuation errors have been repaired. Hyphenation and accent usage has been made consistent.

Page 51--arived amended to arrived--"He arrived safely in
Brooklyn, ..."

Page 51--concidence amended to coincidence--"It was a
remarkable coincidence that Miss Nettie Morgan had accepted
..."

Page 51--instantly amended to Instantly--"Instantly all
interest in the play was lost."

Page 61--Berry amended to Berri--"Berri, Caroline, Smith
street."

Illustrations have been moved where necessary so that they did not fall in the middle of a paragraph.
