Cinderella

"Cinderella" by Anonymous is a French folk tale with thousands of variants told throughout the world. A young girl living in unfortunate circumstances suddenly receives remarkable fortune, ascending to the throne through marriage. The story traces back to ancient Greece with Rhodopis, a slave who married Egypt's king. Later versions emerged across Europe, including Perrault's famous 1697 French telling and the Brothers Grimm's 1812 German adaptation. This timeless tale has become an archetypal story of transformation and recognition.
