"Student Body" by F. L. Wallace is a science fiction short story published in 1953. But biologist Dano Marin soon discovers something disturbing about the native lifeforms. The creatures possess an extraordinary ability to adapt and mutate at incredible speed, transforming in response to every threat the colonists introduce. As each countermeasure fails, Marin realizes the mutations are following a terrifying pattern toward an inevitable conclusion.
