Tarzan and the Lion Man

"Tarzan and the Lion Man" by Edgar Rice Burroughs is a novel serialized between 1933 and 1934. This satirical adventure sends Tarzan into encounters with a mad scientist's city of talking gorillas while a Hollywood film crew arrives in Africa with an actor who looks exactly like the apeman but lacks his courage. The story mockingly critiques Hollywood's portrayal of Tarzan, culminating when the real Lord Greystoke visits Hollywood for a screen test—only to be rejected as "not the type" for his own role.
