The author is connected with the Harvard College Gymnasium, and the contents of the volume are made up of practical talks delivered before the ladies' class of the gymnasium. His aim is to give such practical information as will aid to self-preservation in times of danger, and to teach a few of the simplest methods of meeting the common accidents and emergencies of life. The illustrations are numerous and excellent.

RED LETTER STORIES. Price 60 cents. Madame Johanna Spyri is pronounced by competent critics the best living German writer for children. Miss Lucy Wheelock of the Chauncy Hall School, Boston, has gracefully translated some of her most charming tales, under the above title.
