"The Bible, Douay-Rheims, Book 26: Ecclesiasticus" by Yeshua ben Eleazar ben Sira is a Jewish wisdom book written between 196 and 175 BCE. This ethical teaching, the longest surviving wisdom text from antiquity, offers guidance on creation, death, friendship, honor, money, sin, and social justice. Originally composed in Biblical Hebrew, it was translated into Greek by the author's grandson around 117 BCE. Though excluded from the Hebrew Bible, it earned its name "Ecclesiasticus" from frequent use in Christian churches and worship.
