"The Birds of Australia, Vol. 3 of 7" by John Gould is a natural history work published between 1840 and 1848. This landmark survey documents 681 bird species from Australia, including 328 previously unknown to Western science. Based on extensive fieldwork by Gould and his wife Elizabeth, the volume features hand-colored lithographic plates created from Elizabeth's drawings. Issued in parts to just 250 subscribers, these monumental folios represent a pioneering achievement in ornithological illustration and scientific documentation.
