The first of these works is adapted to the wants of the practical builder and mechanic, presenting in natural succession numerous examples of forms generally esteemed the most useful in constructive carpentry. The second is devoted mainly to city architecture, containing a great number of designs and illustrations for public edifices, private residences, and mercantile buildings. Each volume is illustrated by a great variety of elegant engravings, and besides the value of the reading matter, which to a great extent is founded on the personal experience of the author, in point of typographical finish and beauty is a model of tasteful and attractive execution.--_N.
