The Iraq Study Group Report

"The Iraq Study Group Report" by the Iraq Study Group is a government assessment published in December 2006. Mandated by Congress, it evaluates the deteriorating situation in Iraq and offers 79 policy recommendations addressing military strategy, diplomatic engagement, and Iraqi government development. The report calls for eventually ending combat operations while training Iraqi forces, proposes talks with Iran and Syria, and warns of grave political and humanitarian consequences without immediate action.
