Endless, labyrinthine, chasmy, crowded,—
All leading through the Egyptian night of ancient blackness
To these oases of tables,—
These howling dervish-tents,—
These feasts of lanterns ....
Strange altars of the midnight!
Doubtful sanctuaries between wars!
Perilous tombs of forgotten goddesses!
