The Rover

"The Rover" by Joseph Conrad is a novel written between 1921 and 1922. Set in southern France during the French Revolution and Napoleon's rise, it follows Peyrol, a master-gunner and pirate who has spent fifty years roaming distant seas. Seeking refuge at an isolated farmhouse, he encounters outcasts and becomes entangled in their struggles.
