"A Compilation of the Messages and Papers of the Presidents. Volume 4, part 2" compiled by James D. Richardson is a historical collection published in the late nineteenth century. This volume contains the official proclamations, messages, and speeches of President John Tyler during his term from April 1841 to March 1845. Part of an ambitious eleven-volume series documenting presidential communications from 1787 to 1902, it preserves the executive voice during a pivotal era of American expansion and political transformation. The compilation itself became embroiled in controversy over the copyright of public documents.
