Footnote 488:

This table is not absolutely correct, as it accounts only for 691
instead of 699 Non-commissioned officers and men, who fell in the
war, either killed, or wounded, or by disease. According to Dr.
Wyatt, who does not classify the casualties by months, the total
losses were 81 killed in action, 54 died of wounds, and 564 died
by disease, or 699 men. But the above return has been given, as it
indicates sufficiently the months during which the bulk of the men
lost their lives.
