Chapter XXVIII

Text size

Alone, alone; in the deep alone,
Of an awful, soulless world unknown!
And there was I—but I could still
Think of such thoughts, as us’d to fill
Mine eyes with tears: and tears had then
Been sweet as sunlight seen again.
But tears were none, and never an eye
Save the quenchless sight of memory.
