GENERAL MANAGER--MR. R. WOODMAN BURBIDGE.

CHIEF ACCOUNTANT--MR. A. J. NAUGHTON.

SECRETARY--MR. R. H. GRIFFITH.

OBJECT.--The object of the Company is to supply its Customers with the best goods at the lowest remunerative prices.

HOURS OF BUSINESS.--From 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 1 p.m. on Saturdays; closed on all Bank Holidays.

TERMS OF PAYMENT.--Town--Cash at time of purchase or on delivery except where accounts have been opened; Country--Cash with order, except where accounts have been opened. Accounts are opened for the convenience of Customers on receipt of a deposit or banker’s or London Trade reference, and are rendered weekly for town, monthly for country.--Note.--_1 per cent. Bonus is allowed upon deposits of £20 and upwards, provided each successive deposit be made before the preceding one has been exhausted._ Separate Accounts may be opened for Drapery and Fancy Goods, to be rendered and paid monthly.

CHEQUES.--Cheques and Post Office or Postal Orders should be made payable to “Harrods’ Stores, Limited,” and crossed “Barclay & Co., Limited, not negotiable.”

BANKING.--Deposit Accounts and Current Accounts opened and Interest allowed. Cheque Books issued. Full particulars furnished on application.

ORDERS FOR GOODS.

A Special Staff is in attendance in the early morning to deal with Post Orders, so that Meat, Poultry, Fish, etc., may be sent out by the early carts.

Verbal Orders.--For Customers having large orders to place for Grocery, etc., an Order Office is provided, thus saving them the trouble of visiting the various counters, the utmost care being taken in carrying out instructions. The Order Office is situated in the Royal Exchange in the centre of the building. Orders for Horses, Carriages, Motor Cars, Electric or Petrol Landaulettes are booked at this office. Special terms and prices on application.

Collection of Customers’ Orders (Local.)--For the convenience of Customers we have arranged, where Standing Orders are given by Customers for delivery of Goods each morning by our Carmen, that the Carmen themselves can bring back orders, thus ensuring Earlier Delivery than if by the Collectors calling by arrangement.

Order Books for writing orders in duplicate are supplied free. The use of the duplicating book is strongly recommended, but, when writing out orders, none but words descriptive of the Goods required should be used. The embodiment of such quotations as “Please Send,” “Kindly Deliver,” etc., constitutes a letter which is surcharged accordingly by the Post Office Officials, a procedure which entails delay in the delivery of the letter and in the execution of the order. Orders should never be embodied in letters relating to any other subject requiring an answer.

In order to facilitate delivery customers are requested to give their nearest Railway Station on all orders.

PERISHABLE PROVISIONS.--Customers will find it to their advantage to order Fish, Meat, Poultry, Fruit, Dressed Provisions, separately from the General Orders; this will ensure more prompt despatch. Orders are executed as quickly as possible, but pressure of work at times leading to more or less delay, the delivery of Goods by any definite time cannot be guaranteed, but every effort will be made to meet the wishes of the customer. When orders cannot be despatched by Goods Train in time to meet customers’ special requirements they will at the discretion of the Company be despatched by Passenger Train, _Carriage Forward_, and an allowance will be made equivalent to the cost of transit by Goods Train.

Telephone Orders.--An efficient staff of order clerks is kept in constant attendance for the purpose of receiving Customers’ orders. Being provided with the morning quotations for Fish and other articles of daily consumption, they can give any information as to most seasonable goods, etc. Orders for luncheon received up to 10 o’clock for the immediate neighbourhood; other districts according to delivery. Fullest information will be given upon application to enquiry office.

Telephone No.: “Western One,” 80 Lines (Day and Night).

An All-Night Telephone Service is in force at Harrods, and a special staff being in attendance ensures the reception of orders from Customers at any hour, Day or Night.

Telephone Orders received after business hours will be executed first thing on re-opening.

Telegraphic Orders.--To facilitate execution of Telegraphic Orders, Customers are advised to make use of the Departmental Initials and Number which are quoted throughout the Catalogue as far as possible.

Public Telephones.--These are provided in each Department for the use of Customers at the usual charge for public calls.

TELEGRAMS.--Customers sending Telegraphic enquiries respecting Purchases would save delay by naming the Goods that have been ordered, the words “Parcels,” “Goods,” etc., being altogether inadequate to afford any assistance in tracing or identifying them.

It would further greatly assist us if Customers would add Address when signing a Telegram of Enquiry.

Telegraphic Address: “EVERYTHING, LONDON.”

EXPORT ORDERS.--Special attention is given to the execution and shipment of Export Orders to Customers abroad. Shipping instructions will be received and enquiries answered at the Export Office. See Export Price List and Rules.

ENQUIRY OFFICE.--This Office is intended not only to answer enquiries, but also to take note of complaints, and bring them under the notice of the Managing Director or General Manager. It is respectfully requested that any incivility or want of attention on the part of Employees be at once reported to the Managing Director or General Manager.

SALES.--Harrods hold two annual clearance sales with the object of disposing of the season’s surplus stocks. They each last for one week, the Summer Sale during July and the Winter Sale during January.

FREE CARRIAGE ARRANGEMENTS.

TOWN.--FREE DELIVERY--Goods are delivered Free of Charge to any Address by our own Carts or Motors in Town and Suburbs, extending as far as Maidenhead in the West, and many miles to the North, South, and East, including such outlying districts as Woking and Reigate in the South, Watford and Enfield in the North, and Bexley in the South East.
