These stoves are the original British Made Anthracite Stoves, and as their principal parts are patented they possess advantages that cannot be found in any imitation. They can be fitted in front of almost any grate without any structural alterations and fed every 12 to 24 hours, can be kept alight right through the winter at a cost of about one sixth of what a gas stove would cost. The surround, or extension, which is included in the above prices, greatly improves the appearance, but the stoves can be supplied without it at a deduction of from 9/6 to 29/6 off the above prices. Free delivery to any station in England, Scotland or Wales. Ask for full “Esse” Catalogue giving other designs and full details.

Sectional Drawings and fixing instructions supplied with each Range.

This new Portable Range is of a distinct and improved type in which are embodied several notable features and advantages. The Ovens are exceptionally large and thoroughly ventilated, and can be very quickly heated with the smallest quantity of fuel.

The simplest one movement of the poker converts the fire from closed to open. The Oven and Boiler Dampers are combined into one Self-indicating Damper, showing by the position of letters whether the heat is on the Oven or Boiler only or both together.

A Draught Regulator is provided in the Hood, which can be regulated to check the too rapid working and overheating of the Range. This is automatically closed when an open fire is made. Improved Side Boiler. No danger of cracking or burning out. All wearing parts are interchangeable and easily replaced.

HAND POWER PASSENGER LIFT.

Lifts for raising Invalids are often made on the hand power principle. The Gearing is of amply strong spur wheel and pinion type, machined V wheels for the ropes, and a powerful band brake. All the wheels are securely fitted to steel shafts running in suitable bearings. One hemp or manilla rope is usually used for suspending the cage, and the guides are of well seasoned wood, carefully prepared and jointed. The Cage can of course be made in any design, but unless specially ordered consists of American whitewood, V jointed, stained and varnished; but if required it can be made of a design similar to illustration in mahogany or oak at an increased expenditure. The Lift is hauled up and down by an endless rope, and the brake cord is arranged close at hand for applying as required.

Prices of Lift as above described. For travel of 10 ft. with Cage as described above.

COUNTRY HOUSE LIGHTING.

AIR GAS LIGHTING.

An excellent method of lighting Country Houses is by Air Gas, which is becoming very popular on account of low first cost, small upkeep, and the general satisfaction obtained from its use. Air Gas can be made available for illuminating establishments of all sizes, and especially those of moderate dimensions, being quite simple in manufacture and free from risk of explosion. Harrods have tested every make of machine in the market, and can strongly recommend Cox’s system. These machines are low in price but excellently made.

A 30-light machine can be run at its full capacity upon one gallon of petrol for 4½ hours, each light giving about 100 c.p. It should be understood that each light can, on all plants, be subdivided into lights of less candle-power.

ACETYLENE (GAS) FOR COUNTRY HOUSES.

We undertake the installation of complete ACETYLENE plants, and send an expert to advise Clients or give an estimate for work required to be done.

The ACETYLENE FLAME is peculiar and good in its affording a light more like that given by the sun (daylight) than any other artificial light; both colours and tints can be readily matched, and pictures can be appreciated by it. No other artificial light has this quality.

The products of combustion are the same as from coal gas, but only about one-twelfth the volume for a given light. The Acetylene flame is quite smokeless.

It is a safe light, Acetylene being less poisonous than coal gas. As the issue from an open burner is so small, it would have to be left open for a very long period in a closed room to render the air dangerous to breathe. The slow issue of gas is also an element of safety against explosion, for a burner would require to be left open several days to make an explosive mixture in a room.

A good and reliable Generator is of course necessary to ensure the foregoing.

New piping, if required, is inexpensive, as it only needs to be one-third the size of piping for coal gas. Small pipes are inconspicuous when run in finished rooms.
